Sunday, September 25 at 10pm on ABC, the newest historical series Pan Am premieres. So far the reviews of PAN AM have far outweighed the other period piece of the fall, THE PLAYBOY CLUB so I have high expectations. In fact, lots of critics are taking the opportunity to do some great comparisons of the two shows. Also, Tommy Schlamme (THE WEST WING, SPORTS NIGHT) is one of the executive producers and I’ve enjoyed just about everything he’s ever done.

The show stars Christina Ricci working as a stewardess on Pan Am airline in 1963. This is when the maiden flight of Boeing 707 from NY to Paris is. Follows the captain, first mate and four stewardesses. One of the stewardesses, Kate, played by Kelli Garner, starts to use her position to become a spy. Often compared to Mad Men, for obvious reasons, but apparently isn’t that much like it. But better than The Playboy Club, another 1960s show premiering on NBC. Here’s a preview:

Heather is a recent West Coast transplant and can't remember what humidity feels like. She spends most of her time (& money) watching movies, marathoning TV shows on DVD, attending concerts, reading, eating vegetables, attending conventions (San Diego Comic-Con, New York Comic Con, Dragon*Con so far!), blogging about her quarter-life crisis, downing coffee and traveling the world. She likes comic books, photography, reading on the Metro bus and wearing cold weather clothes despite the actual temperature in Southern California.

What'd you think?
