REVIEW: Young Justice Invasion: “Earthlings”

Guys! This weekend was chock full of nerdy goodness. The Avengers release, May the Fourth be with you, Free Comic Book Day, Oh and Cinco de Mayo. But new episodes of Young Justice and Legend of Korra?! That is pure awesomeness right there.

Whew, we are not wasting any time here, opening up straight to the action sequence. And of course it’s the standard flashback in a flash forward scene (that makes sense right)?

Yay! Adam Strange, I’ll admit I didn’t know much about his character and  had to look it up but I am excited to see more from him.

The one redeeming quality of this episode

Don’t know if I’ve mentioned it before but I love how this show tackles languages. Because if there’s one thing I hate it’s the assumption that everyone in multiple universes speak the same language, just out of convenience.Even Adam Strange explaining how he’s been trying to communicate in Rann.

Ahhh Beast Boy, I have to disassociate him from the Beast Boy in Teen Titans, and it may take  me a while. Love the brother/sister relationship though.

Best scene ever, Adam Strange quoting Alice and Wonderland, the Jabberwocky was a moment of pure hilarity.

And yes if only real life had life/death situations to distract us from relationship problems.

One day for superheroes I’m sure things will go according to plan.

Beast Boy’s “noted” reminds me of Robin’s “aster” moments.

So Superboy broke up with M’Gann because he doesn’t age, but she’s a shapeshifter (as Alanna helpfully points out)? Wonder what the real deal is here.

Angsty, angst.

Also wondering why Queen Bee killed Beast Boys mom, or if that was just collateral damage? And how did the discovery of Garfield’s powers happen (and M’gann’s reaction)? This show is causing me to ask more questions then answering them!

Ok then, Miss Martian can be scary serious at times. And once she figured out what the Missing Six did she does not look happy.

Personally I’m not a fan of off-world animated episodes. Probably because there’s a lot of character introductions and new world exploration. This episode did a great job introducing new characters and keeping the action going. Next week hopefully, we get to see what happened with The Missing Six, though it is possible that they may drag that out to another week. I also am not a fan of Miss Martian and Superboy, which made this episode a little harder for me to watch but, luckily Adam Strange ended up being my character of the week in this, and I will not complain! Can’t wait for next week!

Cool cool cool. Not much to say except I've been obsessed with TV since I was a baby. Seriously my mom said I spent hours eating because Sesame Street would be on TV. I grew up a child of the nineties so like most kids from that time, my brain is mush and full of Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Disney Channel and Saturday morning cartoons. Since this was way before the invention of Tivo/Dvrs I literally had to run to the TV and try and hog it from the family. Just a heads up I don't really like the typical review format so get used to some strangeness up ahead (in a good way, I hope)! Also, if you dare, you can check out more random thoughts at or I'm on the twitter @rakhEEnroLL
