TV Gone Good: Zac Levi & Nerd HQ

San Diego Comic-Con is a pretty overwhelming experience for even to most rabid con-goers. Whether you’re waking up early to line up or staying out late to party down, everybody needs a place to relax, sit down and enjoy the atmosphere that is Comic-Con. That’s where Nerd HQ comes in.

For the last two years, Zachary Levi (your favorite nerd herder) has been giving you Nerd HQ, a place to enjoy games, food, drinks, panels & photos with your fellow con-goers. This year there were panels featuring your favorite shows (CHUCK, DOCTOR WHO, PSYCH, ROBOT CHICKEN, GRIMM); movies (THE EXPENDABLES 2, TWILIGHT); general nerd icons (Nathan Fillion, Joss Whedon, Guillermo Del Toro, Damon Lindelof, Stan Lee); video game creators (Tomb Raider) & general nerd hotties (Zac Levi, Jared Padelacki).

But what makes Nerd HQ super special is that you can have it all AND do some good in the real world. 100% of the proceeds from the panels at Nerd HQ benefit Operation Smile. In 2012, the panels raised $140,000! Plus there’s raffles and signed SWAG to benefit the charity too. All while hanging out in an amazing atmosphere. And if you’re lucky, you may even run into your nerd idols 🙂

Check out the year-round good that thenerdmachine.com is doing. And if you happen to be in San Diego next year, do some good and check out Nerd HQ!

Heather is a recent West Coast transplant and can't remember what humidity feels like. She spends most of her time (& money) watching movies, marathoning TV shows on DVD, attending concerts, reading, eating vegetables, attending conventions (San Diego Comic-Con, New York Comic Con, Dragon*Con so far!), blogging about her quarter-life crisis, downing coffee and traveling the world. She likes comic books, photography, reading on the Metro bus and wearing cold weather clothes despite the actual temperature in Southern California.
