5 Spooky TV Shows for Halloween Year-Round

Happy Halloween! This week and last, all of our favorite shows have gotten spooky for Halloween. But some shows manage to maintain the monsters, suspense, magic and costumes year-round. Here are 5 spooky TV shows that will keep you in the Halloween spirit.

1. 666 Park Avenue

Jane and Henry move into 666 Park Avenue to manage the property and restore it to it’s original glory. But they get more than they bargained for when mysterious things start happening all over the building. Everywhere you turn, an elevator is crushing someone, murders are taking place or ghosts appear around the corner. What’s really going on at 666 Park Avenue? It’s only Season 1 but I have high hopes that this show gets a second creepy season! 666 Park Avenue airs Sundays at 10pm on ABC.

2. Grimm

To me, Grimm is like a procedural drama but with monsters. It’s based on the Brothers Grimm Fairy Tales and follows Nick who is a detective and a descendent of the Grimms. Nick and Hank deal with creatures that only Nick can see on a regular basis while trying to keep everyone they love safe. There’s mystery and intrigue as Nick learns to deal with his new found heritage. Grimm airs Fridays at 9pm on NBC.

3. Fringe

This season is the final of Fringe and has taken a left turn as far as story goes. But over the past 4 seasons, Fringe has dealt with all of the unexplained and strange. Between people losing their bones and ghosts causing major universal shifts, Fringe never disappoints. Even in Season 5 where we deal with the Observers who can read people and appear in thin air or people who live amongst the trees and start to  look like them! Fringe will keep you in the Halloween spirit until the final episode of the series airs on February 1, 2013. Fringe airs Fridays at 9pm on FOX.

4. The Walking Dead

Obviously Zombies aren’t the norm in our world. But The Walking Dead keeps bringing us back week after week to discover what life would be like if “Walkers” were a reality. Between Zombies sneaking up on the group and huge plot twists constantly, The Walking Dead is the perfect show to keep you spooked throughout the year. The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9pm on AMC.

5. Once Upon A Time

What happens when all of your favorite storybook characters are thrown into a tiny town in Maine? In Season 1, we learned that all of our favorite storybook characters had been cursed and forced to stay in Storybrooke with no recollection of their true identities. In Season 2, the curse is broken and now all kinds of characters are popping up. With dragons, ogres and dwarves, Once Upon A Time keeps you on your toes! Once Upon A Time airs Sundays at 8pm on ABC.

BONUS: Doctor Who

It’s Mid-Season for Doctor Who, so I’m not putting it on the actual list but it happens to be one of the creepiest shows on TV. Aliens, time travel and monsters keep Doctor Who as one of the classic Science Fiction shows of all time. Catch it when Series 7 returns in Spring 2013. But there’s a Christmas Special on December 25, 2012 so watch it and see what you think!

What shows did I miss? What do you think of these spooky TV shows?

Heather is a recent West Coast transplant and can't remember what humidity feels like. She spends most of her time (& money) watching movies, marathoning TV shows on DVD, attending concerts, reading, eating vegetables, attending conventions (San Diego Comic-Con, New York Comic Con, Dragon*Con so far!), blogging about her quarter-life crisis, downing coffee and traveling the world. She likes comic books, photography, reading on the Metro bus and wearing cold weather clothes despite the actual temperature in Southern California.
