Here at The TV Sisters, we like to celebrate shows that are made by women, starring women or simply doing their best to make a show portraying women in a way that isn’t stereotypical. There’s been various opinions of HBO’s show GIRLS and whether it’s actually detrimental to the portrayal of women on TV. But all I can say is how I see the show. To me, GIRLS is a story about friendship, life, love, parents, money, success, America, struggle and more. The women in this show are in the stage of life where that transition is being made to adults and it sucks. I see this show as one of the most honest shows on television. Add in that it’s created, written and starred in by Lena Dunham, a woman.
Season 1 of GIRLS is over but Season 2 starts January 13, 2013. I have Season 1 of the show and would love to send it to someone who would like to catch up before Season 2 starts. Fill out the below information. If you don’t have Twitter, you can still enter! Just send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to enter. The contest ends at midnight on December 14th.
